An Embarrassment Is An Understatement

The “debate” seemed like I was reliving a 6th grade cafeteria food fight at La Mesa Spring Valley Elementary School. Why can’t so many of my old and dear friends see that this is not about Blue or Red? Even if it was, are these two the best that either party can vomit up to vie for Commander in Chief?? Come on, America . . . start looking at the candidate irrespective of the “party” that runs his or her campaign. I have known men and women who epitomize Brokaw’s “Greatest Generation” and horsefly, none of that DNA has rubbed off on either one of these two. Trump, in particular, seems to be totally immune to what our fathers and mothers fought for, worked their hands bloody for, died for. America just embarrassed herself in front of the entire world last night. Anyone that cannot see that is, to use the phrase so vogue of late, tone deaf at best, and deaf dumb & blind at worse. Some press from the pit:

“Chris Wallace’s debate performance tonight is a great reminder that kindergarten teachers are underpaid,” “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah tweeted in the midst of the 90-minute encounter.

NBC News veteran Andrea Mitchell called the debate a disgrace. NBC’s Chuck Todd called it a train wreck. CNN’s Jake Tapper called it “a hot mess inside a dumpster fire inside a train wreck.”

In Vietnam we called this kind of display a “cluster fuck”.

It is obvious to me that Mr. Wallace would make a better POTUS than either one of these applesauce hurlers. Members of my family have, through the years, picked up a weapon and walked a post to defend freedom, to give others a voice. The only way I feel I can have a voice in a month is to reject both of these two wannabes and write in either Michelle Obama or Condoleezza Rice. I’ll flip a coin. Today, I understand more clearly the despair my father felt when JFK was shot. This isn’t that, however the resulting emotion is a touch stone. I miss you, Dad!
